International Yoga Day: Modi and ministers mark their diaries for sessions

Marking an year to the International Yoga Day, preparations have already begun in full force.PM Narendra Modi will be leading the campaign at Capitol Complex, Chandigarh along with 30000 other chosen participants.

Marking an year to the International Yoga Day, preparations have already begun in full force. On Yoga Day June 21, PM Narendra Modi will be leading the campaign at Capitol Complex, Chandigarh along with 30000 other chosen participants. The PM will give a short address on the benefits of Yoga before the actual session.

However, rainfall may hamper the main event of International Yoga Day to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Tuesday, a weather official said on Monday.

PM Narendra Modi has been sharing Yoga postures and Aasanas on his twitter account as a part of the International Yoda Day 2016 Campaign.

Meanwhile, 57 Union ministers from the Modi Cabinet including Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and HRD Minister Smriti Irani, among others will spread across the country to promote this ancient practice.

A total of 10,000 participants will be performing yoga in various places in Delhi including Lodhi Garden, Nehru Park and Talkatora Stadium as part of the second International Yoga Day celebrations on June 21, an official said on Saturday.

The programme will start at 6 a.m. and Common Protocol Yoga by all participants will start at 7 a.m and go on till 7.45 a.m. Diplomats will participate in the Yoga programme at Nehru Park.

Hectic preparations are on to celebrate the International Day of Yoga in Nagaland as well.Theme of the Day this year is to “connect the youth”.

Yoga Ministry, Department of Ayush in Government of India has been aaranging events across the nation to promote the Indian origin health practice. The AYUSH Ministry on Friday also released a Yog Geet (song) in connection with the celebration of the second International Day of Yoga.

Worldwide, Yoga Day would be celebrated at 191 countries including China, France, Sri Lanka amongst others.

Similiar sessions were held by Yoga Guru Ramdev in the National capital at Rajpath. Baba Ramdev, also participated in a Yoga session at Dubai, after his return said that he was thrilled by Muslims there joining in large numbers. He said that yoga is a spiritual and not religious practice.

“Sadhguru” Jaggi Vasudev will lead the celebrations at the circle in front of the glass-fronted UN headquarters tower by holding a session of simple yoga practice and yogic chants. Apart from UN delegates, thousands of citizens are expected to participate in the gala events that will be organised on the day. The iconic Times Square will be host a series of events on the occasion with several spiritual leaders and various Indian community associations marking their presence at the second International Yoga Day.
