EZULWINI – Midas City Director Polycarp Dlamini, has requested the Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) to consider issuing monthly grants to teams.

Dlamini was addressing PLS chairman representative, CEO John Mazibuko.  Speaking at a guest house in Ezulwini situated a few metres away from the Exams Council of Swaziland, where the club had a party on Saturday, he highlighted that the teams needed to be met halfway through the cash injection in the quest to professionalise the game in the country.
“It’s high time the teams get monthly grants like it’s the case in other professional set-ups,” said Dlamini.

“We appreciate that the PLS has managed to get more sponsors to help boost the team’s coffers through gate takings.”
Mazibuko, who urged the team to remain united, noted the concern on behalf of his absent boss, Victor Gamedze, who missed the event as he left for Namibia to watch Sihlangu’s COSAFA Castle Cup game against Zambia yesterday.

South Africa is one of the countries where teams get grants to ease their financial burden. Premier League sides get E1.5 million. Second-tier sides were receiving E380 000 a month last year, but it was said to be rising to E700 000.
Meanwhile, the side’s boss further pledged full support for the players even in the new season but was quick to challenge them to claim at least a single trophy.
Midas City staged the event to celebrate their first top-five finish in history.
They further recognised outstanding performers in the past season. Centre-back, Ndumiso Ndaba, was named the Player and Players’ Player of the season on top of the chairman’s accolade.
Speakers took turns lauding the team for being well behaved, a move that earned them the PLS Fair Award. In attendance were team Board members and guests who included Prince Gcogca.
