CHOKED DRAINS, DRIED TAPS

They are blaming the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) for supplying water at abnormal hours.

"We feel helpless when we go to register complaints in civic offices. Taps in these blocks of Hauz Khas completely dried up and civic officials have not given any clarification about the stoppage of water supply. Moreover, they have not given prior intimation before the stoppage of supply so that residents would take adequate measures to store water," said JP Jhunjhunwala, the treasurer of Hauz Khas RWA.

The situation worsens due to the awkward timing of the water supply by the DJB during night. "The DJB has been accused of supplying water from 2.30 am to 5 am in normal days. As a result, our daily routine is completely changed nowadays as we wake up at that time to run motor pumps. Office goers are the worst-affected besides the large number of senior citizens who stay alone in the area," Jhunjhunwala said.

TC Mitla, the president of Hauz Khas RWA, said: "The sewerage system is also in a pathetic condition. It generally chokes due to lack of maintenance by civic agencies." "We have met with each and every officials of DJB, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) south and local MLA Somnath Bharti but no one has taken the matter seriously to address our grievances", Mitla said.
