Preparations for the second International Day of Yoga, to be observed on June 21, have been started by several yoga institutes and other organisations in the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Varanasi: Preparations for the second International Day of Yoga, to be observed on June 21, have been started by several yoga institutes and other organisations in the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The PM had called on for observing the day during his UN General Assembly speech in September 2014.
Several institutes, social and voluntary organisations will be organising yoga-demonstration programmes.

Social organisation, The Art of Living, in association with regional unit of Bharat Vikas Parishad, will organise a Yoga-display programme at Sampurnanand Sports stadium for the second consecutive year. Trainer at AOL, Rakesh Tandon said celebrations will be held across the world wherein Yoga trainers will ensure participation of people on June 21. Another trainer Anita Chaudhry said programmes will also be held at Police Lines, Ramnagar PAC, 39 GTC, BHU, Central Jail, DLW, among several other places across the city.
The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will organise a series of programmes to mark the International Yoga Day, which is also being celebrated during the university's centenary year. Several people are being trained in Yogasanas as a part of the fortnightly workshop at Malaviya Bhawan since June 6.
Chairman of the Yoga organising committee VK Shukla said a large number of professors, staff and employees and students of the university as well as local citizens are being imparted training on various Yogasanas at Yoga Sadhna Kendra in Malaviya Bhawan, BHU. Several lectures were also delivered for a better understanding of the spiritual discipline and training workshop will conclude on Monday, he said.
Meanwhile, a competition themed on Yoga was organised earlier on Saturday for the Yoga trainees. An essay competition on 'Yoga, Health and World Peace' in both Hindi and English languages was also organised online. The top three winners will be rewarded at a prize distribution ceremony at Malaviya Bhawan on June 21.

Besides, similar training is being imparted by 89 UP battalion, BHU, at Broacha hostel on the university campus from June 14. Meanwhile, Nagaland girl Temsutula Imsong, who gained popularity after being praised by the PM for cleaning Prabhu Ghat, and her team Mission Parijat will also observe Yoga Day by performing Yogasanas for an hour at Babua Pandey Ghat.
On the eve of Yoga Day, Bhartiya Yoga Shikshan Sansthan will honour 10 Yoga trainers during a felicitation ceremony at Dashaswamedh area for their contribution.
