Bhubaneswar: City-based Visthapan Virodhi Jan Vikas Andolan, an outfit fighting for tribal rights, came down heavily on the state government over death of Manda Katraka, a Dongria tribal of Niyamgiri hills in alleged police firing.
The outfit constituted a fact-finding team led by Justice B G Kolse Patil, former judge of Bombay high court, to ascertain the reasons behind death of Manda, who was killed on February 27, 2016.
Addressing a news conference here, members of the outfit said Manda was killed in a fake police encounter when he along with another villagers went to forest for collection of Salapi, a local traditional drink extracted from Salapi tree.
