Jeshtabhishekam was performed to the presiding deity of Lord Ranganathar at Sri Ranganathaswamy temple at Srirangam on Sunday.

This is an annual important festival when ‘tirumanjanam’ and ‘thailakappu’ are performed to the presiding deity. In view of the festival, the presiding deity remains closed for public darshan till 4.30 p.m. today.

Earlier in the day, holy water from the Cauvery was brought in a golden pot in a procession.

An official release said the jeshtabhishekam will be performed to Sri Chakrathazhwar, Sri Sengamalavalli Nachiar, and Sri Singar on July 1.

These shrines will be open to public darshan after 5.30 p.m. on July 1, the release added.
