Chemical Fertilizer (RCF
) will donate Rs60lakh
to BalirajaChetanaAbhiyan
. It is the highest donation since the scheme was launched in July 2015. “The money will be utilized to provide mulch animals to 73 farm widows and goats to 69 farm widows,” said resident deputy collector
Rajesh Khawale on Friday. 142 beneficiaries would be able to find their daily bread out of the ancillary business along with their regular farming.
The animals will be procured with the help of veterinary department experts and later they would be supplied to the beneficiaries, he added.
According to Khawale, who is the project director, the district is carrying out the government-sponsored
Baliraja Chetana Abhiyan to thwart the suicide spree among the farmers.
“We have been receiving donations from various agencies including trusts, NGOs and philanthropists,” he said, adding, “Policemen and ST employees have already extended their helping hand to promote the scheme which shows a significant decline in the farmers’ suicide figure in last few months.”
