Truck crushes 4 kids in Rewari

Four children, aged between 6 and 11, were crushed under the wheels of an overloaded truck at Khol village, Rewari district, on Sunday morning.

Chandigarh: Four children, aged between 6 and 11, were crushed under the wheels of an overloaded truck at Khol village, Rewari district, on Sunday morning.
The children - Lalit (11), son of one Rajinder; his cousins Ravinder Kumar (8), Mohit and Akash - were returning home on their bicycles when the accident happened. The truck driver tried to flee the spot, but villagers overpowered him and handed him to the police.
The accident triggered a protest by villagers, who blocked the Rewari-Jharli road and sought a ban on heavy vehicles on the road.
They demanded Rs 10 lakh as compensation to each of the children's family. Police said the truck was carrying coal to Jharli power plant. The truck hit the bicycles of the children from behind and dragged them for some distance.
Sadar police have booked the driver for negligent driving .
