Bovine smugglers mow down dalit man to steal his cattle

Agra: Unidentified bovine smugglers ran over and killed a dalit man in Firozabad district when he tried to stop them from stealing his cattle.
Identified as Dinesh Kumar (35) of 'Jaatav' community and resident of Pilkhatar Jait village of Fariha area, the victim was taken to local community health center, where he was decalred brought dead.
The incident took place at around 1am near Kotla road.

According to station officer of Fariha, Duri Lal, "In the intervening night, group of unidentified men untied five buffaloes from Dinesh Kumar's barn. They took the cattle to nearby road and started loading them on a pickup truck when a local resident spotted them. He then alerted the villagers."
"When Dinesh saw his cattle missing from barn, he rushed towards the road and stood in middle of road to stop the smugglers, but they ran over him, killing him instantly," the officer added.
The police have registered an FIR on written complaint filed by victim's father against unknown men under IPC section 302 (punishment for murder), 378 (theft) and animal cruelty act of Uttar Pradesh 1955.
In a similar incident last month, cow smugglers had shot at 16-year-old girl in Ahmadabad village of Bagwala area in Etah districts when the victim Nirdesh Singh caught the accused men stealing her two cows. After the incident, tension prevailed in the village and police force was deployed in the area for preceding 24 hours.
