Senior Taliban leader Mawlavi Alam was killed in an ambush of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces in western Herat province of Afghanistan.

Senior Taliban leader Mawlavi Alam was killed in an ambush of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces in western Herat province of Afghanistan.

“Mawlavi Alam was the group’s military commission chief for Badghis province and was killed as he was travelling to Herat province,” Khaama Press quoted local officials in Herat province as saying.

Provincial governor’s spokesman for Heart, Jilani Farhad, said Mawlavi Alam, who was involved in major attacks that led to the killing of scores of security personnel and civilians, was ambushed by the Afghan forces in Keshk-e-Rabat district.
