Ahmedabad: Dara Mody, the father of Azhar who went missing in the violent melee of the Gulbarg massacre, has just one mission in life: to find his son. Azhar may have been declared dead by the tenets of law, but Dara’s heart believes he is alive. Azhar was 13 when he went missing. “I am 100% sure he is alive. How do I explain this feeling? A father knows,” said Dara who presses on with his search.
Dara and his wife Rupa have scoured hospitals, jails, orphanages, beggar homes, and police stations across India looking for their son.
The couple recently returned from Vadodara where they had gone after receiving information that a youth who looked like Azhar had been admitted to a government hospital. By the time they reached the hospital, the youth had left.
“If some family has raised him,I will not lay claim to Azhar,” Dara said. “Just let me know he is alive.” Dara worked in Kamal Cinema. On the fateful day, he had dropped Azhar at a tuition class at Gulbarg Society before leaving for work. Dara, whose search was captured in “Parzania”, has not only jettisoned his career in the cinema business, but has also moved home.
