Dharwad: Head of Jnana Yogashrama, Siddeshwar Swami said teachers play an important role in eradicating superstition and help students become sensible citizens.
Speaking at a function to inaugurate a new building at JSS Public School and Centre for Speech and Hearing at Kelgeri in Dharwad on Saturday, he said that though India has a rich legacy of intellectuals, people here live in blind beliefs.
"The westerners feel that India is a rich treasure of knowledge and culture, but for the Indians, migrating to other countries for higher studies and employment. They are ready to fly to Africa, but are not willing to stay here or serve their motherland. This growing attitude among youngsters does not augur well for the country," he said.
Cooperation minister H C Mahadev Prasad presided over. D Veerendra Heggade inaugurated the new building of JSS Public School and the Centre for Speech and Hearing. Shivarathrishwar Deshikendra Swami, Mallikarjun Swami, MLAs Arvind Bellad, B R Yavagal, former MLA Chandrakanth Bellad, corporator Shivu Hiremath and police commissioner Pandurang Rane were present. tnn
