Ahmedabad: On June 21, International Yoga Day, the state is attempting to set the world record for biggest yoga human chain with participation of 8,000 persons at GMDC Ground on Tuesday.
The state-level celebration at the ground, where the governor and chief minister would also participate, would have a total of 70,000 participants performing yoga.
Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, state education minister and coordinator for the event, told media on Saturday that last year 1.09 crore persons had participated in the Yoga Day celebrations.
"This year, we are targeting to 1.25 crore participants across 40,000 locations in the state. The practitioners would perform yoga at iconic locations such as top of mount Girnar, Sun Temple in Modhera, Kadana dam, and Lakhota lake in Jamnagar, among others. Fourteen organizations are supporting the event, and 900 trainers have been coached for the event in Ahmedabad," said Chudasama.
