Hyderabad: Three persons, including two doctors, committed suicide in separate incidents in the city on Saturday.
In the first incident, Musheerabad police said that Vijay Kumar, 36, pursuing DM at Osmania General Hospital, committed suicide by inflicting injuries on himself using a surgical blade at his flat at Ram Nagar. "Vijay injured himself below the stomach.
A suicide note was recovered from his wallet. In the note, he mentioned that due to loneliness he was taking the extreme step," Musheerabad sub-inspector B Ravi Kumar Reddy said.
According to police, Vijay's note was dated June 14. As the body was in a decomposed condition, other occupants in the flat detected foul smell and alerted the police. Vijay had divorced his wife three years ago and since then was in a state of depression, police said. He was staying in the flat with his uncle, who was out of station.
In another incident, an MBBS graduate, M Anusha, 26, hanged herself from the ceiling at her residence at Manjeera Colony in Alwal. Though Anusha did not leave any suicide note behind, police, quoting her family members, said Anusha was depressed as she failed to clear the PG entrance exam thrice. Anusha, a native of Adilabad, was suffering from loneliness and used to stay alone at a rented accommodation at Manjeera colony.
Meanwhile, a Gautham Model School teacher, Chandana, 23, committed suicide by jumping into Saroornagar lake allegedly due to harassment by one Mahesh, who was pestering her for marriage. Chandana's family was earlier staying at Green Park Colony in Saroornagar and shifted to Hayatnagar several months ago.
On Saturday morning, Chandana along with her parents approached the Hayatnagar police and lodged a complaint stating that someone was harassing her by sending vulgar messages from three different numbers. "At 9.30 am, they came to us and we registered a case under Section 354-D and assured action. She looked bold and confident, but by afternoon we came to know that she had committed suicide,'' Hayatnagar inspector Narender Goud said.
The investigation into the case would continue and a team was formed to nab Mahesh, whose name cropped up while analysing the calls from the three numbers. When the victim switched off her phone, the culprit used to call her father's mobile and speak vulgarly, police said.
