AKSU VC charges students on group, personal security
The Vice Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU), Prof. Eno Ibanga has charged students to take their personal and group security seriously. He made the charge during the sixth matriculation ceremony of the school held at the main campus, Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin.
The VC said of the 2,340 students admitted, only 1,842 have so far been cleared for matriculation.
Prof. Ibanga, who read out GSM No.08114805506 as AKSU VC Help Line, advised the students to be hard working and committed to their studies.
His words: ”Never before in the history of mankind do we have as many distractions as we have today, especially for the youths, who are faced with so many pressures and challenges, such as the social media, Facebook, where one can interact with millions of people across the world without even knowing any on one-on-one basis.”
Prof. Ibanga urged the students to take their personal and group security, as well as wellbeing seriously, saying they should not expose themselves to unscrupulous elements in the society. He also called them to dress decently in and around the school.
