Senior leader and Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar is all set to become the next president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).

Sources in the party said AICC president Sonia Gandhi has cleared the name of Mr. Shivakumar for the KPCC president post. However, Mr. Shivakumar will continue to be Minister in the Siddaramaiah government, and hold the Energy portfolio one more year.

KPCC president G. Parameshwara, who joined the Siddaramaiah government last October, completed five years in office on October 27, 2010.

Sources also said Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, who would be dropped from the Cabinet, is likely to be drafted into party work.
