While paying rich tribute to noted communist leaders Satpal Dang, his wife Bimla Dang and Parduman Singh, Communist Party of India (CPI) state secretary Hardev Arshi today stated that secular forces should come on a common platform to save unity and integrity of the country, threatened by communal and fascist forces.

While paying homage Arshi said Satpal Dang was not only a leader, but an institution in himself, who had motivated and encouraged a number of youth to fight for the people. He said, “It will be a perfect tribute to him if we save our country from disintegration by communal forces.”

While criticizing the BJP-led NDA alliance, he said the Modi government had failed to fulfil even a single promise made to the people of the country, before coming to power.

“Uncontrolled inflation has broken back of the common man. The price of grains is sky rocketing,” he added.

He said the SAD-BJP government in Punjab had looted the people in past nine years. It had brutally thrashed those, who demanded employment for themselves, he added. He said there were about 40,000 seats of teacher vacant in government schools, but only 8,500 were filled so far.

“Punjab is facing acute problem of drug abuse. On the other hand AAP has neither an ideology nor any strategy to take the state on the path of development,” he added. He claimed that only Left parties could give right direction to the people and provide a stable government in the state.

District secretary Amarjit Singh Asal said the party organised the programme to remember sacrifices made by communist leaders. He said workers and leaders of the Left parties were always ready to fight communal forces and make sacrifices.

Among others who spoke on the occasion include Jagdish Lal, Darshan Dard, Gurnam Kaur and Daswinder Kaur.
