police on Friday. It’s learnt the rape survivor Sunita
(name changed) and Verma
were in a relationship from June 2010 to March 2016. Sunita
claimed that Verma
lured her with a promise of marriage. Cops said Verma
, a native of Chhattisgarh
, had been staying near Sunita’s residence since June 2010 and they developed a relationship.
The two also had sexual relations. Sunita
asked Verma
about his marriage proposal when they met sometime ago at Kalmeshwar
. Since then, Verma
had been avoiding her. Later, Verma
left his rented place. Sunita
then came to know that Verma
had got married with another girl in Chhattisgarh
three months ago. After this, Sunita
approached YashodharaNagar
police station. In an unrelated case, Dheeraj Vaidya (19) was booked by Sitabuldi police for molesting a girl on college premises on Friday. It has learnt that the woman and Vaidya, both Arts students, are batch mates and know each other from last year. Cops said the woman was filling a form at the cash counter with her friend when the woman’s kin met her. Meanwhile, Vaidya approached them but before they could say anything, he started beating uo woman’s kin. Vaidya, a resident of Hill Top in Pandharabodi, also hurt the woman by grabbing her by her hand.
Two die in hit-and-run Two persons were killed in separate hit-and-run cases on Thursday. Police have registered an offence of negligent driving against unidentified drivers. In the first case,
Rahul Chaudhari (21), a resident of
New Futala, died when a rashly driven four-wheeler dashed his two-wheeler near
Ambazari bypass road.
Rahul who received serious injuries, succumbed to injuries later. Brother of the deceased
Kishore (28) lodged a complaint at case of hit-and-run at police station.
In the second accident,
Deepak Uke (40) died near Cantonment on
Kamptee-Khaparkheda road in late hours of Thursday.
Deepak was hit by an unknown vehicle coming from the opposite direction. Deepak, who received serious head injuries, died on the spot.
Chetan (72), cousin of Deepak, lodged a complaint against driver, who fled form the spot, at
Juni Kamptee police station.
Woman robbed of gold chain A principal of women and child development department of Government School, fell victim to chain-snatching when her gold chain worth Rs30,000 was snatched by unidentified miscreants in
Ram Nagar on Friday.
Palshikar, a resident of
Maharshi Apartment in Sundarban Layout,
Pratap Nagar, was going from Ram Nagar to
Madrasi Temple on her two-wheeler. Near the artificial lake the bike-borne miscreants came from behind and snatched her chain. Palshikar, 31, lodged a complaint at Ambazari police station.
Four booked for robbery Four robbers — identified as
Kalim (28), Rahul Chaudhari (22),
Rahul Meshram (19) and
Rahul Tawde — robbed two persons at
Vishal Bar in
Koradi on Thursday. From among the four, Chaudhari was arrested by
Koradi Police on Friday.

Pankaj Sonawane had gone to Vishal Bar where the four accused forced Rahate and
Sonawane to pay their bills. On refusing, they duo were assaulted by the four accused who snatched Rs8,000 cash and a motorcycle worth Rs20,000 before fleeing from the spot. Rahate and Sonawane informed the cops who had registered an offence of robbery.
