When you grow up in a family of classical musicians, quite often
music plays a significant role in your life. That's the case with singer-composer duo
Toshi Shabri and
Sharib Shabri too. They admit their initial training and exposure has encouraged them to experiment with diverse genres in
Bollywood.
Quiz them if they prefer singing over composing and they quip, 'It's like asking who do you love more ' your mom or dad.
We love singing as well as composing. Both are equally important to us.'
In a chat with
Bombay Times, the brothers talk about their latest foot-tapping number 'Pyar ki ma ki' from '
Housefull 3' and their favourite genres.
What do you attribute your success to?We have delivered hits consistently over the last few years. Whatever we do, we give it all we have. '
Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2', 'Raaz: The Mystery Continues', 'Jail, Jashnn: The Music Within', Jackpot, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Zid and 1920 London are some of our prominent albums. Songs like
Kabhi jo baadal barse and
Samjhawan are close to our hearts.
There have been times when we have recorded a song and then scrapped it as we felt something wasn't right. On many occasions, we have changed a track completely, just to make it sound better. We aspire to give the best to our fans.
Karam hai hum pe and fans ki dua hai (it is all due to the love of our fans). Hum toh bas koshish kartein hain accha kaam karne ki.
How was it working with the Housefull 3 team?We are fortunate to work with a well-known producer like
Sajid Nadiadwala. And collaborating with directors like
Farhad'Sajid was a lot of fun. They have a great sense of humour and we would always be laughing and cracking jokes at our meetings.
What is your favourite genre? Our romantic tracks have been liked by everyone. Our party songs have been hits too. We have also composed wedding tracks and naughty numbers. We always try to be versatile.
