AI flight grounded again

Pantnagar: Forty passengers had to cancel their tickets to Delhi from Pantnagar as the much awaited Air India flight was cancelled at the last minute. The Air India flight, which was scheduled to resume this week, was cancelled due to lack of staff. The Air India flight from Pantnagar to Delhi had stopped plying on May 23.

Nepalese woman held for trafficking

The anti- human trafficking unit of Uttarakhand Police took a Nepalese woman into custody at the border post of Banbasa on Saturday. She was allegedly taking three Nepalese women to Delhi on the pretext of getting them jobs. The woman was part of racket that sent Nepalese women to Gulf countries from New Delhi. “On interrogation, the woman, identified as Dhana Bastola, a resident of Chitwan district in Narayani Anchal of Nepal, confessed that she used to get Rs 5,000 for each woman taken to Delhi,” said Manju Pandey, a sub-inspector with the unit, posted at the Banbasa border post.

Engineer’s house looted

Four youths allegedly burgled the house of a PWD engineer and looted cash and jewellery. The youths entered the house in Tulsi Nagar on the pretext of giving gifts to the couple but overpowered them and tied them. They then looted the house. “The police are looking for the criminals. They looted the couple and fled the spot after committing the act,” said Sweeti Aggarwal, SSP of Nainital.
