Scores of people were Saturday injured after clashes erupted between two groups of the Kukroosa Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.Local said that clashes erupted between the two groups of locals over the issue of grave yard. “One among the two groups don’t allow another to bury their beloved ones in the graveyard claiming that they have sold it and won’t allow anyone to burry here,” locals said.Muhammad Akbar Rather a local resident, whose mother passed away last night, told KNS that they sent the people to dig a grave for his mother but unfortunately some locals assembled outside the graveyard and pelted stones on them as they were not allowing them to bury their family member.

Rather said that during the attack by some locals, scores of their relatives receive injuries. After the incident, police provided security to them to bury their beloved one without any hardships.“At least 10 persons got injured after the locals pelted stone on us,” Rather said.Earlier, Divisional Commissioner had ordered that the both the parties are allowed to bury their members in the graveyard.Nonetheless, locals said that one among the parties rejected the orders and are not allowing others to bury their deceased in the graveyard.Locals however, said that after the intervention of Tehsildar, some among the agitating residents were arrested.
