VARANASI: Defying prohibitory orders issued by the district administration, firebrand Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Sadhvi Prachi attended the meeting organised by Hindu Jagran Manch at Rahul Sankrityayan auditorium in Azamgarh on Saturday.
The Azamgarh district administration had restricted her entry and participation at the HJM meeting. Although adequate policemen were deployed at the meeting venue in view of her programme, she addressed the gathering anyway.
Speaking on the occasion, she said attempts are being made to make UP an Islamic state.
Out of fear and insecurity, the Hindu population in several places like Kairana, Bagpat and Deoband are migrating to other destinations, she said. A Kashmir-like situation is emerging in UP, she added.
Describing Azamgarh as a nursery of terrorists, she said the state government should take steps to improve the situation. The government would have to stop the migration of Hindus, she added.
Sadhvi also accused the UP government and SP leader of conspiracy around the Mathura violence in which several people including two police officers were killed. “What was the local intelligence unit doing during two years in Mathura?” she wondered, adding that the Mathura mastermind Ramvriksha Yadav was an SP man.
