Here's a list of events that rocked the South Indian film industry

So another gruelling work week is over and it is the weekend once again, which means it is time for a concentrated dose of things that happened in South this week. Baahubali and Kabali are the only two movies people are talking about, and so they made news this week. Other than that, we also witnessed one of the worst Twitter wars ever fought between fans of two superstars and the release of a highly anticipated Telugu movie. The week began with a bang as SS Rajamouli's epic Baahubali: The Beginning won a whopping 13 awards at the prestigious CineMAA awards that took place on Sunday. The movie won the best film, best director, best VFX, best negative role, best supporting actress among many others. The night was also made even more scintillating with a memorable dance performance by Megastar of Telugu cinema Chiranjeevi. Overall, another feather in the cap for the franchise. Ram Gopal Varma calls Amitabh a bigger star than Rajinikanth

After watching the film TE3N, Ram Gopal Varma was mighty impressed by Big B's performance in the movie. But of course, he is RGV so cannot appreciate an actor without taking a shot on someone else. Ramu compared Superstar Rajinikanth with Amitabh Bachchan and said that Big B is a much bigger star than the Thalaivar, almost calling Amitabh hundred times better. Of course, he faced the anger of Rajini fans on Twitter, but got his two minutes of fame.

Ugly Twitter war between Ajith and Vijay fans

Things took a very nasty turn on Wednesday when Twitter witnessed one of the ugliest wars been fans of two big stars. It was of course the usual suspects, fans of Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Thala Ajith, who are notoriously famous for such rivalry. But new lows were reached when Ajith was called a man without libido and Vijay was called a moron and a son of many fathers, well you get the picture.

Release of Kabali's song teaser

Rajinikanth fans were disappointed when they found out that no teaser was released along with the music album. But their prayers were finally answered when the second teaser of the Pa Ranjith film came out on Thursday. It was a teaser of the song Neruppu Da and since its release, it has gone super viral on YouTube and has already crossed a million views and heading towards two. If fans loved the teaser, they were completely blown away by this one. Kabali is looking like the biggest South Indian release this year.

Release of Nani's Gentleman

As promised on June 17, the romantic thriller Gentleman, starring Nani and Nivetha Thomas came out. It has received a very positive response overseas and a somewhat mixed response in India. Many are saying that this film will finally make Nani a big star. There is also raving praise for the debutant actress Nivetha Thomas, who actually outdid the Natural Star in a few scenes. Overall, the week ended on a high note for Nani and for Tollywood.
