Jaipur: The Centre on Friday announced that 14,487 villages across 19 districts of state which were declared as drought-affected until July this year by the state government would get 150 work days instead of 100 under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act in 2016-17.
"In view of the likelihood of increased demand for employment on public works due to the drought situation, it has been decided to provide up to 50 days of additional employment in notified drought-affected districts ," the letter from the joint secretary of Union department of rural development of the Central government said.
