596 food stalls inspected

Officials of health department of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) checked 596 hand carts and shops selling mango juice and food items in the city on Friday. They destroyed 143.75 kg of food stuff not fit for consumption and collected Rs77,500 as fine from shop owners. The officials also issued notices to 216 individuals during the checking process.
Demolition
SMC officials demolished 5,200 square feet of illegal construction on the fourth floor of Narayan Industrial Estate in Limbayat area of the city. They collected Rs1.5 lakh as demolition charges.
