Mahendra Tank, son of Naran Tank who has been sentenced to life imprisonment, said he will soon appeal in the Supreme Court for reinvestigation of the Gulbarg massacre.
He alleged that all those who were close to the BJP had been acquitted while commoners like his father had been implicated by the probe agency .
"If the SIT had investigated the case fairly, my father would not have been convicted," he said. "I will move the Supreme Court for reinvestigation of the case."
Champa Kalal, mother of Krishna Kalal, fainted when she heard that her son had been jailed for life. She later said that the court should had been humane. "Krishna has two children. Now who will feed them?" Champaben said.
Bharat Rajput was also sentenced to life imprisonment. His brother, Mahendra Rajput, threatened self-immolation saying Bharat was innocent. "My brother and Gulbarg victims were friends and used to sit together every evening. How could he have killed them?
He is innocent," he said.
Mahendra further said that Bharat's 10-year-old son, Harsh, is has a heart ailment and his wife, Ranjanben, earns her living by deseeding dates (fruit). Dates are used by Muslims to break fast during Ramzan.
Dilipsinh Chudasma, uncle of Lakhansinh Chudasma, was angry and said innocent people had been punished while the real offenders had been let off.
Kailash went to meet son before surrendering: Raima
Raima Dhobi, the wife of Kailash Dhobi who jumped parole months before the verdict, said she has no idea where her husband disappeared to. She, however, said that he had gone to meet their 3-year-old son, Divyansh, at SN Prathmik School before surrendering. "We live about a kilometre away from Gulbarg.Kailash is innocent and we will appeal in a higher court against his conviction," said Raima.
