ACP report on any complaint in 3 weeks now
MUMBAI: The state government has directed all assistant commissioners of police to file a report on every complaint that they receive within three weeks. A government resolution (GR) on Friday said all the complaints that come to an ACP in urban areas and a deputy superintendent of police in rural areas should result in the filing of a report in three weeks. The report should give details of the investigation and the action initiated.
A copy of the complaint also needs to be made available to the complainant. The GR said that every complaint not investigated in three weeks should be brought to the notice of the additional commissioner of police, who will then take these complaints to the additional chief secretary of the home department on the fifth of every month. It said the reasons why these complaints were not investigated and reports not filed in three weeks should also be mentioned.
If complaints have not been investigated even after three months, a list of all such cases should we submitted to the deputy secretary of the home department in Mantralaya to be forwarded to the additional chief secretary.
The GR said: “Every complaint submitted to the ACP personally or over the phone or through the net should be investigated and a compliance report has to be filed.”
