Accra, June 17, GNA - The Convention People's Party (CPP), has expressed shock about the demise of Madam Abiba Nnaba, mother of President John Dramani Mahama in Accra last Tuesday.
A statement signed by Professor Edmund N. Delle, the National Chairman and Leader of the CPP and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday said the CPP share in the grief and pain of the family.
It said the CPP family led by Mr Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, Presidential Nominee for Elections 2016, and the rank and file joins the nation to mourn with the family.
It said the party however, urges the President, and the family to take consolation in the fact that Madam Nnaba paid her dues to Ghana and mankind.
'Madam Nnaba raised sons and daughters with one becoming the President of the Republic of Ghana.
'The CPP also urges the family members to stand firm in the face of these trying moment. Unite to give a befitting burial to our mother, Madam Nnaba,' it said.
