Need to share radar feeds to Coast Guard Daman: Administrator

Surat : Administrator of the Union Territories of Daman, Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli (DNH), Vikram Dev Dutt has urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to provide the feed of the radar located at the light house, Moti Daman to Coast Guard station Daman as well as the police control room in Daman for timely intervention and increased coastal security.
Dutt, who has recently taken over the reins of the union territories of Daman, Diu and DNH said this at the Union Home Minister’s conclave on coastal security organised at Mumbai on June 16.
The Administrator said that the feed from the radar located at Moti Daman goes to Coast Guard Porbander and not to the Coast Guard Daman. There is a need of coordination between various agencies involved in coastal security and timely sharing of intelligence among themselves could further materialize in taking timely action.
“There is a need to share the feeds of the coastal radars with the respective police headquarters for timely intervention” said Dutt.
Dutt said that the conclave was organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India to review the implementation of the Coastal Security Scheme and the Biometrics of fishermen launched by Government of India post 26/11 incident in 2008.
Dutt said, “"The progress of Daman & Diu has been particularly good in construction of Jetties, Coastal Police Stations, Coastal Mapping, utilisation of budget, color coding of vessels/boats, capturing of biometrics, issue of Biometric cards and NPR cards to fishermen."
