Man dies after car and two motorbikes collide near Rockhampton

THE state’s road toll has risen after a man died in hospital following a crash near Biggenden, 84 km west of Maryborough, yesterday.

Police said the man was driving along the Isis Highway at Dallarnil about 5.30pm Friday when his car left the road and crashed into a concrete culvert.

The 94-year-old driver was taken to hospital but later died.

No one else was in the car.

OVERNIGHT:

A MAN has died after a car collided with two motorcycles at Kabra, just south of Rockhampton, this afternoon.

The 61-year-old Rockhampton man died at the scene after his bike and a sedan travelling north on Four Mile Rd collided about 3.40pm.

A second motorcyclist was also hit by the car and the 58-year-old male rider was taken to Rockhampton Base Hospital with severe leg injuries.

The driver of the sedan, a 26-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries and was also taken the Rockhampton Base Hospital.

Police have advised Four Mile Road will remain closed for several hours.

Meanwhile, a woman has died in hospital after a head-on collision with a truck on the Bruce Highway south of Innisfail on Thursday night.

The 44-year-old Cairns woman was driving southbound on the highway at Cowley when she collided with northbound truck at about 6:30pm on Thursday.

Her SUV then hit a utility that was following behind.

The woman was flown to Cairns Base Hospital in a critical condition but died from her injuries overnight.

A 66-year-old man, who was driving the truck, and a 56-year-old woman driving the utility were not injured.

Investigations into both accidents are continuing.
