Megastar Mammootty's upcoming Malayalam movie "Kasaba" is all set to hit screens in Japan soon. The Nithin Renji Panicker-directed movie will be released in the East Asian country in the month of July after its release at the Kerala box office.

"Kasaba" will be distributed in the country by Celluloid Japan and the registration for the shows will be opened soon. Sources close to the company told International Business Times India, that the Mammootty-starrer will be released with English subtitles. "KASABA - superstar Mammootty movie - July release from CELLULOID Japan. Registration will start soon !! [sic]," Celluloid Japan posted on their Facebook page. Earlier, Mammootty's "Varsham" was also released in Japan.

Recently, Dulquer's blockbuster movie "Charlie" was screened in Japan with Japanese subtitles by Celluloid in association with Japanese company, Dozo. It opened to tremendous response from Malayalis as well as the Japanese audience. "The vivid Indian culture was well described, lyrics of songs were also stunning. All other detail of life such as cooking and eating were really impressive and enjoyable," a Japanese viewer said after watching the Dulquer movie. "I was able to deeply inhale. My body is totally filled up with fresh air. This is the film that healed me a lot. Wonderful, wonderful film it is," another person said.

Celluloid Japan has earlier released more than 10 Indian movies in Japan. However, "Charlie" was the first Malayalam movie they screened in the country with Japanese subtitles. The other Mollywood movies released with English subtitles in Japan include, Nivin Pauly's "Action Hero Biju," "Oru Vadakkan Selfie," "Premam," Mohanlal's "Ennum Epozhum," Dileep's "Life of Josutty," Prithviraj Sukumaran's "Ennu Ninte Moideen," Fahadh Faasil's "Maheshinte Prathikaaram" and Jayasurya's "Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam."

In "Kasaba," Mammootty plays the role of a police officer after a gap of five years. He will be seen as inspector Rajan Zacharia in the debut directorial venture of Nithin, who has assisted his father Renji Panicker and director Shaji Kailas in many movies. The action thriller has Neha Saxena and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar as heroines, apart from Jagadish, Siddique, Sampath Raj, Biju Pappan and Alencier Lay in significant roles.
