'Lapidus saga could've been handled better'
MUMBAI: Multiple Commonwealth Games rifle shooting gold medallist Anjali Bhagwat has stood by the charges she and a group of fellow woman shooters levelled against Stanislav Lapidus nearly a year ago. However, the 46-year-old Arjuna Award winner admitted the saga, which eventually led to the Kazakh resigning as India's chief rifle coach, could have been handled with greater tact.
"It could have been handled in a better way.
A little subtle way, but a few journalists, made...." Anjali stopped midway, breaking into a chuckle as it dawned on her she was speaking to a scribe.
While a preliminary probe conducted by the NRAI had given Lapidus a clean chit, the controversy eventually took its toll on the coach as he handed in his resignation to NRAI president Raninder Singh in February saying the episode had left him 'deeply hurt and traumatised'.
