Guwahati: Over 300 kg of ganja was seized in the Serfam Heights area near Boha village in a joint operation by the Army, SSB and police on Thursday. The operation was conducted in the villages along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. The area is known for ganja cultivation.
Based on military intelligence inputs regarding the presence of NDFB (S) militants in the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, a 48-hour-long joint operation was launched by the Army's Red Horn division along with 61 SSB battalion and Arunachal Police in Boha village.

Army spokesman Lt Col Suneet Newton said the joint operation was meticulously planned. The security forces encircled the suspected area. The villagers were completely unaware of the operation at night and so were the suspects.
"The operation was successful and more than 300 kg of ganja was recovered by the security forces from the Serfam Heights area near Boha village," he said.
The Army officer said the operation had dealt a serious blow by rupturing the link between the illegal drug peddlers, rebel organizations like NDFB and others by choking their finances.
The Army has also organized two medical camps in Boha and Ankling.
More than 500 local villagers, including women and children from all communities, were given free treatment and medicines by the Army's medical officers. The villagers appreciated the noble and humanitarian act of the Army personnel.
