Surat Youth Cong presents khaki shorts to education officer
Surat: Members of Surat Youth Congress on Thursday presented khaki shorts, similar to those worn by RSS pracharaks, to district education officer U N Rathod, as a mark of protest against ongoing practice of donations and commercialisation of education. They also accused him of being agent of ruling BJP and the RSS.
According to Pradip Bharwad, president of Surat Loksabha Youth Congress, some schools in the city have been charging enormous fees under different heads.
Even school notice boards are full of such notices for students and parents to buy number of things for various activites apart from donations at the time of admissions.
"We asked for education officers time at least 20 times in recent past, but he always avoided us. He is not willing to stop ongoing business practices under the pretext of providing education by CBSE board schools. We were fed up with his attitude," said Bharwad.
"We went to meet him on Thursday and told him if he is not willing to work as education officer and act as an agent of ruling BJP or RSS it is better we present him with khaki shorts to go with his practice," said Bharwad.
On his part Rathod said, "They had come with CBSE school issue. I asked them to make presentations to that board. Two schools of Gujarat board were called over the issue of donations and notices were issued to them. They (Youth Congress) just want to play politics."
