Four more held for killing CNG station attendant

The detection of crime branch (DCB) on Thursday arrested four persons allegedly involved in the broad daylight murder of Govind Bharwad, a CNG station employee in Nizampura on May 29.

Vadodara: The detection of crime branch (DCB) on Thursday arrested four persons allegedly involved in the broad daylight murder of Govind Bharwad, a CNG station employee in Nizampura on May 29.
Police said that two of the accused Sarvezkhan Bhatti and Mehtab Pathan, who live in Gorwa, had fled to their native in Uttar Pradesh after committing the crime.
They were arrested near Padamla bridge. Later, Fatehgunj police arrested two other accused Gulam Mustafa Pathan and Ahmednabi Pathan, both residents of Navayard, following a tip-off from the crime branch.
The total number of arrests Bharwad's murder has now reached eight. Earlier, the police had nabbed Fidahussain Pathan, Samirkhan Pathan, Raeskhan Pathan and Bakilkhan Pathan.
Bharwad was attacked brutally over a minor argument after a rickshaw driver came to refuel at the CNG station. The accused got into brawl with Bharwad and his brother Kanu. The rickshaw driver then left the station but returned with 15 persons armed with sharp-edged weapons. They attacked the brothers and another staffer Salman Sheikh. When Bharwad tried to escape, they chased him for a distance and then stabbed him to death. Kanu and Salman too suffered serious injuries and were admitted to SSG Hospital.
The brawl and subsequent attack was captured on a CCTV installed at the CNG station.
Police said that Sarvez, Mehtab and Gulam Mustafa were also arrested in an assault case registered earlier in Fatehgunj.
