Allahabad: Now it's the turn of supporters of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state chief and Phulpur MP Keshav Prasad Maurya to demand that the party high command declare Maurya as the CM candidate for UP polls.
On Thursday, a group of his supporters, led by BJP Yuva Morcha leader Nanhu Pandit, arrived at Sangam to demand that Maurya be propped up as the CM candidate.
The supporters, who waded into Ganga with a banner, said they had taken 'jal sanklap (oath) in Maurya's support. The banner reads 'Modi Ji se Yahi Pukar, UP Mein Keshav Sarkar'.
They added that people of the state had unanimously accepted Maurya as their leader and wanted to see him as their chief minister. However, district BJP leadership was not aware of this development.
