Neoseeker had a chance to speak with Chris Klimecky from Harebrained Schemes at E3 2016 this week about Necropolis, the action adventure meets roguelike due later this summer for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Describing the game as "Dark Souls meets Spelunky", Klimecky also highlighted Necropolis' drop-in / drop-out multiplayer where up to four players can team up online to explore procedurally generated dungeons in search of loot and resources to use in item crafting.
Players will take on hordes of enemies within these dungeons in real-time combat, reading enemy movements and attacks to find the right time to attack and counter attack. Mess up and it's permadeath for your current character, just like any classic roguelike. Both sides will need to be mindful of friendly fire, but the good news for players is that it's only permadeath in multiplayer if all players end up biting the big one; any players still standing will be able to revive others.
Players will be able to find out how far down the living dungeon they can make it in one playthrough when Necropolis launches on PC and Mac this summer, with PS4 and Xbox One versions launching together shortly afterward.
