Moving a step closer to the reality of an airport for the Doaba region at Adampur near Jalandhar, the Board of Airport Authority of India has given a formal approval for setting up of the civil airport at Adampur.
This was stated in a statement by Union Minister Vijay Sampla after meeting Union Minister for Civil Aviation P Ashok Gajapathi Raju. Sampla added the Ministry of Civil Aviation would now formally write to the state government to fulfil the requirements which the state government had already assured, a government spokesperson said.
Later, Sampla met Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal and apprised him of the development. Sukhbir assured Sampla of fulfilling all requirements as soon as they would receive official communication from the Civil Aviation Ministry.
