Panaji: Reacting to the arrest of their member Dr Virendrasinh Tawade for reported involvement in rationalist Narendra Dabholkar’s murder, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) on Wednesday said it is a baseless allegation and a conspiracy against the organization.
HJS national guide Charudatta Pingale said though Tawade has been arrested under suspicion, central bureau of investigation (CBI) has not been able to produce any strong evidence against the ENT specialist in court.

Speaking on the arrest of Sameer Gaikwad in connection with the murder of veteran communist leader Govind Pansare, Pingale further said investigation agencies have had Gaikwad in their custody for the last eight months, but have neither managed to gather any evidence in the case, nor filed a chargesheet in the matter. “If the Maharashtra government has proof and are confident of their claims, why arent’t they filing a chargesheet?” he questioned.
“They are keeping our members behind bars without filing any charges. The government is defaming the organization and they are not doing the right thing,” Pingale added.
“If the investigation agencies have evidence or if our members are guilty then the law will take its own course,” he further said, demanding that the cases be fast-tracked so that the innocence of the organisation members are proved, just like it had happened in case of the sadhaks accused in the Margao bomb blast.
Asked why the three absconding accused in the Margao blast case have not surrendered if they are innocent, Sanatan Sanstha’s spokesperson Chetan Rajhans said, “They must have been scared of being framed.”
