Vishwa Prani Kalyana Mandal appeals to stop animal sacrifice in Gujarat
AHMEDABAD: The Vishwa Prani Kalyana Mandal, Bengaluru in a meeting with chief minister Anandiben Patel and chief secretary Gangaram Aloria has requested the government to stop the animal sacrifice at the Babadev Temple in Chelvada near Pavagadh.
Swami Dayananda president of the VPKM said that in Vadodara, he was informed of the ritual of animal sacrifice and he went to the area only to be threatened.
He said that he then went with some supporters to create awareness and found that several hundreds of animals were being sacrificed in the temple.
Swami said that he had taken up a campaign in Karnataka against animal sacrifices. “I had the impression that Gujarat practiced nonviolence and spirituality but when I came to Vadodara my dreams were shattered. I found the animal sacrifice practice even in Gujarat.”
He handed a memorandum to the chief minister Anandiben Patel in this regard. “The CM after listing just asked if we had any volunteers from the area. She did not give any assurance, but the chief secretary was quick to react and he ordered the district administration to take action,” said Swami.
“We will wait for a month and if the tradition continues we will file a petition in the Gujarat high court,” he said.
