With plenty of first-time nominees in this category, picking a winner for the Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female) – Malayalam will be a tough task. With all of them having played equally strong characters, Ann Augustine, Aparna Gopinath, Lena, Mia George and Namitha Pramod vie for the Black Lady this year. Who will win?

Ann Augustine

Ann Augustine – Neena

Playing the strong-willed and simple Nalini, whose husband is steadily developing an attraction for a colleague, Ann Augustine gives a measured and memorable performance. Though this is her first nomination in this category, she previously won the Black Lady for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) – Malayalam for the 2013 film, Artist.

Aparna Gopinath

Aparna Gopinath – Charlie

In a pivotal role as Kani, who becomes a vital piece of the puzzle Tessa is solving to get to Charlie, Aparna Gopinath shines on screen. A first time nominee in this category, she previously received a nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) – Malayalam for her performance in the 2014 film, Munnariyippu.

Lena

Lena – Ennu Ninte Moideen

In a small but memorable role, Lena does justice to her part in Ennu Ninte Moideen. Nominated in this category for the second time, she previously won the award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female) – Malayalam for her role in the 2011 film, Traffic.

Mia George

Mia George – Anarkali

Playing a medical supervisor on an island, Mia George excels in her part in Anarkali, particularly in the scenes of banter with leading man Prithviraj. This is her first nomination at the Filmfare Awards.

Namitha Pramod

Namitha Pramod – Chandrettan Evideya

As the attractive dancer Vasanthamallika/Dr Geethanjali, Namita Pramod delivers an excellent performance, playing the perfect foil to Chandran’s wife Sushma (played by Anusree). This is her first nomination at the Filmfare Awards.
