Road accidents number one killer in Haryana-IG

Hisar, June 16 (UNI) "Traders, industrialists and merchants do not invest at a place where there is fear of arson, sabotage or violence. The bad image of such cities,towns or villages keep the investors away and the chances of employment generation become very bleak. People prefer to settle where there is peace and prosperity," said O.P.Singh, Inspector General of Police, Hisar range while talking to newsmen here today.
Mr Singh said, " In a period of five years only 17 thousand youths were found indulging in crime in five districts of this range i.e. Hisar, Fatehabad, Sirsa, Bhiwani and Jind. It is only one percent of the total youths but the consequences and the result affects the innocents too. The campaign Youth Against Violence has been a great success and the benefit of sharing information through whatsapp is perceptible when about five thousand youths turned up only in 24 hours notice at Hansi and participated in the marathon."
Mr Singh said," Earlier our strategy has been defenctive in towns and reactive in villages but now we have adopted new policy which is participatory in nature. Recenty through interaction with the representatives of people we got valuable information about the slum areas infested with crime. We have selected about 340 sensitive places where police officers have been deputed to work in cohesion with the sarpanches.Both would keep a check on each other."

72 09 pc voting in LS polls, record polling likely in 40 yrs, TN poised to create history

from Tamil Nadu ended on Friday evening with 72.09 percent of the 6.23 crore electorate
exercising their franchise and the state is poised to create a record by registering the all time
highest turn out in 40 years in its history once the final figure was released by the Election
Commission.
