Eight, a magic number in Chinese numerology. And for Mimi Thorisson, ex model now food writer, who grew up between Hong Kong and Paris. The child she is expecting (to be born this month), a son, is precisely number eight, the latest to arrive in the large family that she has created with the Icelandic photographer Oddur Thorisson. It is not difficult to imagine Mimi as a little girl standing on her toes to see what is happening on the kitchen table of her aunt, or her French grandmother. “They were both great cooks”.
