Revanna's son beats Kumaraswamy's

While Nikhil, Zaid and Sachin's films are still in the making, Anoop Revanna's `Lakshmana' is ready to hit the screen
Revanna's son beats Kumaraswamy's
Sons of four politicians started it together. However, Anup Revanna, the son of former minister of Congress party HM Revanna, is the first to hit the theatre with his film Lakshmana. Following him closely to debut their films are Nikhil, son of former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy; Zaid Khan, JDS dissident Zameer Ahmed Khan's son; and Sachin, son of another JDS rebel Cheluvarayaswamy. Lakshmana is directed by R Chandru who has made films like Taj Mahal, Mylari and Charminar earlier.
Anoop talks about his experience doing the film in which he shares space with star Ravichandran.
Is this film a preparation for getting into politics?
There is no question of entering politics. It is not my cup of tea and I am not interested at all. It was my childhood dream to be a good artiste. I love this profession and will continue in the same profession.
Sons of other politicians are also becoming actors. Your film is the first to release among them. How do you feel?
I feel proud. Now there is very tough competition because two movies were announced on the same day. In that my movie will be the first to hit the screen, all credits goes to our entire team members and our team captain and our director Chandru sir. He is the main hero and the back bone for this entire project.

My favourite actors are Dr Shivanna and Sudeep sir. My dream is to play a negative character with Sudeep sir.

What training did you undergo for the film?
When it comes to training, I started it at the age of 15 and I was very active in theatre field. Many actors are from theatre background and I was told that in film industry or in big screen it is not that to do something different. What we have learnt in theatre is enough. My first theatre performs was Macbeth. In recent days I went to coaching classes for Chennai and also took some advice from Manju sir who is very active in Ninasam. At last I was in China for kung-fu training and it took four months to complete. My main intention is to give my 100 per cent for the movie.

How was your first experience of first movie?
As everyone say, first experience will be one of the best experience on our life. I was really blessed to work with a great team. I waited for 15 years to enter this industry and my first movie was a real jolly ride for me.
Were you comfortable working with R Chandru?
He was very comfortable to work with. We developed brotherhood over the time. I was blessed to work under his direction in my first movie. He made me feel free and encouraged me a lot on sets because some times it was difficult for me to deliver lengthy dialogues. So what people see me on screen is only because of our team captain Chandru sir.
What kind of films you like to do and your plans for your film career?
I look forward to be an action hero. It is because of this reason I went to China for kungfu training. Lakshmana is also an action-packed film. So, my dream was partially fulfilled on my first film itself. But I don't know what will happen in future because we should also concentrate on good scripts. After Lakshmana, my next movie is with Narayan sir called Panta. I am getting scripts of many other directors also. Then my next steps will be under the guidelines of Chendru sir.
How did your family reacts to your acting ambitions?
I have my family blessings in choosing films over politics. All they said is that they want me to be successful in whatever profession I choose. My biggest support, of course, has been my dad he support me in all possible ways. They have seen my acting from my childhood days and they always wanted me to get into films as hero. So finally my dad has given me the biggest gift.

How was the experience working with Ravichandran?
It was really very good experience work with Ravichandran sir. We have grown up watching his movies and now I am sharing the screen with Ravi sir. My director Chendru sir kept this element as surprise and I was shocked once he announced this. Rave sir is very supportive and there are many things to learn from him.
Your favourite actor and your dream role?
My favourite actor is many from the industry. My favourite actors are Dr Shivanna and Sudeep sir. My dream is to play a negative character with Sudeep sir. There are also many other actors I admire.
Do you want to continue only as an action hero?
I would love to act on other different stories also. It all depends on the good scripts because script is main hero for the good movie.
