Meet the digital guru

June 16, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:15 pm IST - Bengaluru:

‘Guru Swara’ enables students to learn Carnatic music with the help of the digital guru instead of an actual one. The software has 750 recordings of Carnatic maestros. “What makes it interesting is the diacritical remarks on accent, articulation and intonation required for the exact flow,” says musician M. Balamuralikrishna.

Guru Swara allows students to sing along with the master, concurrently ensuring that they are adhering to all aspects of the recording: shruti, tala, gamaka and bhava. There are reference tracks by the maestros available for comparison.
