Lucknow: People can now buy spices, snacks and other eatables from Akanksha Samiti online and have them delivered on their doorstep.
The e-commerce portal and website was launched on Wednesday by Akanksha Samiti, an organization run by IAS Officers's Wives Association. The portal will sell products made by women from economically weak families and spend the earnings on education of poor children and providing medical facilities to the poor.
President of Akanksha Samiti, Surabhi Ranjan, said, "Akanksha has emerged as a brand name in quality and its popularity prompted us to start an online selling portal." She added that profits would be transferred to the women employed in making the food items sold by the organisation. "More than 100 women are running their families through our Masala Mathri Centre, which has recorded a turnover of Rs 3 crore recently," Ranjan said.
Anyone can log on to www.akankshasamiti.com and place the order of a minimum of 1kg. A first-timer will have to create an account and the product would be delivered within 48 hours.
All payment options including cash on delivery have been provided. The organisation also announced its return policy which doesn't permit returning after a packet is opened.
