Tribespeople expressed these views while addressing a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday. They said the construction of gate at Pak-Afghan border was their right and they will not compromise on it. They added the gate will filter movement of militants from Afghanistan.
They maintained Afghanistan should not forget the sacrifices offered by Pakistanis in the last 40 years.
On the occasion, the tribespeople said they defended the country against enemies in the past and will not hesitate to move to the front line if the sovereignty of Pakistan is threatened.
“We warn you [Afghan government] to stop acting on others will or we will not hesitate to lay down our lives to protect our homeland,” tribal elder Malik Zahir Shah said.
He added Afghan forces had been firing from across the border and expressed resentment over violation of law.
“We accepted them as our brothers and shared our homes with them for 40 years but now they are playing in someone else’s hands,” he maintained.
“Afghan government should find a solution to reduce the tension or 10 million tribespeople will have no choice but to join ranks of the armed forces.”
