Muscat: A 49 year-old Omani has been missing for almost five days in Saudi Arabia, where he went to perform Umrah on Thursday, according to Saudi media.

The missing Omani has been identified as Abdullah Bin Fraish Al Hatali, according to his relatives.

Khalid Al Shuraiqi, the Haj and Umrah operator said Al Hatali went missing in the crowds in Makkah last Thursday.

Al Shuraiqi added Al Hatali had the address of the hotel and phone numbers of the organisers of Haj and Umrah, which he said would be easy to find.

An official at the Omani embassy in Riyadh told Gulf News the embassy is investigating the matter together with Saudi authorities. The official said Al Hatali was still missing at the time of writing this report.

Al Hatali’s wife, who was also in Makkah to perform Umrah, said she would not leave Saudi Arabia without him.

Last year, An Omani was found dead when after disappearing in the Haj stampede, where more than 700 were believed to have been killed. He was buried in Saudi Arabia, according to the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs.
