Websites related to Fatah in Palestine and Israeli newspaper Haaretz have reported that a senior memer of Hamas' military wing, Bassam Mahmoud Baraka, has fled from Gaza to Israel, giving himself over to authorities.

Baraka is said to be in possession of detailed information about Gaza's tunnel operations. He reportedly went to the border fence, carrying a laptop, and gave himself over to soldiers waiting there.

Baraka, who is from Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip, apparently told his family that he was going to run errands, and hasn't been seen by them since. The Red Cross informed his family that he was in Israeli custody.

This is not the first time senior Hamas members have ended up in Israeli hands - particularly those involved in tunnel operations. Last month a 17-year-old member was captured by Israel after infiltrating the country, giving authorities information about tunnels during his custody.
