New Delhi: The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has sanctioned a scheme to set up grid-connected 1,000 megawatts (MW) wind energy projects in order to supply power to discoms of non-windy states. The ministry has decided to supply power at a price discovered through transparent competitive bidding process. Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) will act as the nodal agency for implementation of the scheme. The ministry has invited for tenders and the project capacity will be determined by SECI for each tender, but will not be less than 25 MW for a single project developer at one site. SECI is also responsible for developing guidelines for e-bidding process followed by e-reverse auction for eligible bidders as well as developing a suitable mechanism for monitoring the performance of the projects.
